Information

Below are some of our most commonly asked questions, and some information that you may find useful.

How do I go about getting a website or any type of advertising material designed?

Firstly, have a look at some other designs so you can get a feel for the type of look you're after, if starting from scratch or redesigning. Then either fill out our ENQUIRY FORM or contact us directly and we can set up a time to meet with you, face to face or by phone (if you live outside of the Canterbury area) to discuss what you require for your business. We will help you decide how many pages you may need, (if for a website) and what other types of services you may need to set it up, for example hosting or domain name registration, if you are setting the website up from scratch.

What do I need to supply for you to design my website or graphic design material?

After meeting with you to discuss your website requirements, in order to design you a website from scratch we need you to supply us with:

• Your company logo
• The text you would like on each different page clearly outlined (including your contact information and names of each page)
• The photos you would like to put on the website
• Any other information you would like included (eg PDF files etc)

To make it easier for us you can put the text in a word document outlining which text you would like to go on which page and email it to us. The logo and photos can be emailed also, but if there is a large amount of photos it would be better to burn them to a flash drive and bring them in, burn them to a cd and drop it in or mail to us.

For any graphic design, (ie; business cards, brochures etc)we will require your logo, text and contact information and any photos you would like aswell.

How much will it cost?

This all depends on the type of services you require to how much time will be spent on the design & setting up of your services. Please fill out our ENQUIRY form and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

What exactly is hosting?

Hosting is the place on the web that your website is stored. While web pages are designed and developed on a single computer, they must be transferred to a server, or host, so that they are available to the rest of the world over the Internet. A host is simply a computer that has a constant, high speed connection to the Internet.

What exactly is my domain name?

Your domain name is simply the unique name that identifies your website. For example www.icmdesign.co.nz is our domain name which points to our website where it is hosted. If you are interested in registering a domain name, contact us and we will see if it is available for you and go over how much it will cost.

My website is live on the internet now so why can't I find it through Google or any other search engine?

When a website is new, it can sometimes take weeks for google to find your website and therefore list it when somebody enters it in the search bar. It depends on when google has crawled the web last and other things like how many other sites your site is linked to that determine how it is found. We cannot make any predictions or guarantees about when your site will be found but sometimes it can take up to a month or so. During this time you can still view your website as normal by directly entering your web address (www.yoursite.com) directly into the address bar of internet explorer or whichever browser you are using.
